Before commencing your installation of the Shaker kit, please read this
guide carefully. The Shaker kits are supplied in several width/length
options however the product can be cut to suit smaller sections if
required.
It is important to ensure that the wall/surface you intend to apply the
panels to is suitably prepared, make sure the surface is sound and secure.
Please note- the shaker kits are primed on all faces with our water-based
primer that leaves the perfect surface for your final finish, please choose
the correct adhesive for these surfaces.
STEP 1 – MEASURE AND PLAN
Measure and plan. You can sketch out your design on paper. As
a starting point it is best to align the middle strip so it is central,
the remaining pieces can then be equally spaced throughout,
using tape/pencil to set out, a laser level is really helpful for this
step.
STEP 2 - FIXING
Once you have worked out the position for each strip and cut (if
required) you can begin to install using a suitable wall adhesive
on to the back face of each strip, a spirit level will help make sure
your timber strips are square, secure with a nail gun into place,
repeat for all sections.
STEP 3 - PREPARE FOR PAINTING
Fill any gaps with a suitable filler and sand, decorative caulk can
be used for a smooth even finish, wait until dry.
STEP 4 - PAINT/FINISH
Depending on the finish you would like to achieve refer to the
manufacturer’s guidelines re preparation and finish.
Finishing advice
As well as polyurethane paints there are a number of acrylic/ waterbased paints which are solvent free, have a low odour and are
extremely quick drying. They also have the advantage of easy brush
maintenance and require only a quick rinse with water after use.
