How far should a handrail be from the wall?
A wall mounted handrail should allow enough space to get a comfortable grip. The distance from the wall to the inside face of the handrail will vary dependant on the handrail profile and bracket type. Richard Burbidge wall mounted handrail and brackets are between 35mm and 60mm from the wall face.
What is the recommended height for installing a wall-mounted handrail?
As per UK Building Regulations, your wall mounted handrail should be installed at a minimum of 900 above the pitch line of the staircase.
What kind of fittings do I need for a wall mounted handrail?
To attach your handrail, you’ll need a set of brackets one at the top and one at the bottom, (around 200-300mm from each end plus additional brackets with a maximum centres of 900mm). You can also add end caps to the ends of the handrail itself to add a decorative finish or smooth the edges.
